Welcome to Bingo Fuel, an application designed specifically for the aviation community. In the field of aviation, situations such as delays, holding patterns, and diversions can arise unexpectedly. In these instances, having accurate fuel calculations is paramount.
The term "Bingo Fuel" originates from military aviation but has since become a standard concept across various aviation sectors. It refers to the critical fuel threshold at which a pilot must make a decision regarding flight path—whether to divert to an alternate airport, continue to the intended destination, or make an interim stop. Essentially, reaching one's "Bingo" fuel means that no additional delays or holding patterns can be tolerated without compromising landing requirements.
Bingo Fuel incorporates three essential tools: Burn to Destination, Calculate Bingo, and Time To Hold. The Burn to Destination feature calculates fuel consumption based on user inputs of groundspeed, fuel flow, and distance. The Calculate Bingo tool determines the Bingo Fuel number based on user-defined parameters, including alternate fuel, reserve fuel, and optional safety margins. Lastly, Time To Hold assesses the duration a pilot may hold based on current fuel levels and intended fuel burn.
The application offers integrated functionality; values are automatically transferred between tools for increased efficiency. For example, data entered in Burn to Destination seamlessly populates the Calculate Bingo tool, while the Bingo Fuel figure feeds into Time To Hold.
Developed by an experienced commercial airline pilot, Bingo Fuel emphasizes user-friendliness and clarity in its design. Users are encouraged to input their figures, obtain results, and apply this information towards safe flight management.
